Insure Your Therapy and Business Equipment

Most household insurance policies do not cover your business equipment. Insurance cover is available to members who have their malpractice/liability Insurance through IGPP. The cover is for equipment owned by you or leased to you. Equipment includes any equipment you use for your therapy business:

■ Couch
■ Cases
■ Towels
■ Electrical therapy equipment
■ Oils
■ Computer equipment

It covers you whilst at home, clinic based or mobile within the Security If equipment is left in an unattended vehicle the vehicle must be locked at all times. If equipment is kept in a vehicle overnight it must be in a boot or other lockable compartment. Electronic equipment must be kept in a locked boot or compartment at all times whilst the vehicle is unattended. Premises where equipment is kept must have a minimum level of security, namely key operated window locks on all accessible windows and at least a five lever mortise deadlock on the final exit door. If you share premises then you must be able to lock your equipment in a room or cupboard when not in use.
